This week, you will be learning about artist David Hockney. David Hockney is a very famous, still-living, American artist. He is famous for photography, painting, and digital art. While, it may not seem like a very big deal to you, Hockney is one of the first famous fine artists to use the iPad to make "formal" art.

1. Check out this presentation on David Hockney
David hockney from ksumatarted
2. Check out Hockney's digital portfolio of photomontages (from his professional website)

3. Check out these videos of Hockney painting on his iPad, and an exhibit of Hockney's works on iPads
4. Check out a camera from Ms. Z. (or use your own device, so long as you can email/send/post the images to place where you will be able to access them from a school computer)

5. Take at least 30 images of a scene of your choosing (these will be the images you use for your photomontage). Take pictures from different angles and locations. Yes, you must take at least 30; I promise you that this is important.

6. Make sure Ms. Z. has your SD card; she will transfer your images

7. Open up MS Publisher, and choose "new blank document." Choose 8.5 x 11.

8. Go to "insert" and choose "images." Insert all of your images. If Ms. Z. transferred your images they will be located on the STUDRIVE, Handouts, Johnson, Hockney, and look for your camera #.

9. Use the tools in Publisher to assemble the photomontage to your liking.

10. Save often (to your lunch number drive)

11. When you are done, go to "save as" and choose "JPG"  and save to your lunch number drive

12. Go to Pixlr

13. Choose "Pixlr Express"

14. Use the tools and filters to "polish" your artwork

15. Turn your photomontage in to our Edmodo account

PS: Below are two GREAT examples from last year's class
